Description

The ultimate Decepticon weapon has arrived on Earth, and nothing will ever be the same. Constructicon Devastator is the biggest robot, ever - towering above Autobots and Decepticons alike. As his Vortex Grinder snaps open and glows with power, all before him quake in fear, knowing the destruction is inevitable!

One of the biggest Transformers toys ever made, the Constructicon Devastator brings the power of the Decepticons to your home. Having appeared in the summer blockbuster Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Devastator can disassemble into six, smaller, fully functional Transformer vehicles. With its motion-activated sounds and movie-accurate detail, this toy is a must-have for any Transformers collector, ages five years and older. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Devastator Ages: 5+ Requires: 2 "AA" batteries (included) Phillips screwdriver Adult unpacking/assembly What We Think Fun factor: Durability: Ease of assembly: Educational factor: The Good: A large, detailed Transformer toy that's six toys in one. The Challenging: Tough vehicle-to-robot conversion may be too much of a challenge for younger children. In a Nutshell: A massive Transformers toy that does justice to its movie inspiration; great for young fans and older collectors alike. Pulling a lever will cause Devastator's "Vortex Grinder" to open and light up.View larger. At over a foot in height, Devastator is one of the largest Transformers toys ever made.View larger. Your Own Transformers Experience Staying true to the movie, Devastator is massive, standing well over a foot in height and dwarfing most other Transformers toys. He is a solid, heavy, and well-built toy. Pulling a lever on his chest causes his mouth (called the Vortex Grinder) to light up with bright, neon-green LED lights. The lever also triggers battle sounds and quotes taken straight from the movie. Devastator isn't the most flexible toy around. Because of his size, he can be a bit cumbersome to play with. However, his elbows and knees are articulated, which makes him easier to position and balance. He also has realistic details, which gives him value as a collector's replica. Devastator consists of six smaller construction vehicles: the Constructicons. These detailed vehicles are painted in earthy colors suited for their rough construction jobs. Together, the Constructicons form a complete construction team. There is a bulldozer, a dump truck, an excavator, a scoop loader, a mixer and a crawler crane. They prove to be very maneuverable on a hard surface, able to make hairpin turns easily. However, it should be noted that, unlike their film counterparts, these vehicles do not transform into robots individually. An Enjoyable, Challenging Assembly Devastator might be one of the biggest transformers around, but it's also one of the most difficult to put together. Parents should be aware that the Devastator requires some degree of finesse to assemble -- and in some cases, strength. Some of the snapping parts are especially tricky to connect together, and prove difficult to pry apart. The toy is labeled as a Level 4 conversion, so younger children will have difficulty converting the toy by themselves. It took our tester (an experienced Transformer player) nearly 15 minutes to figure everything out. Still, putting the toy together should provide a constructive challenge for older kids. Reviews

For the hefty price tag, this thing should be awesome... and it's not! It is poorly designed. The toy is very top heavy and can not stand on its own. Also, its head doesn't stay up (again, top heavy). I'll tell you... when I look at this toy it reminds me of nothing more then just a huge blob of jumbled plastic. Because it's such a huge blob, playing with it is difficult. When my son does play with it (which isn't too often) he doesn't play with it as one unit. Instead, he breaks it down into the individual pieces. The other thing that bugs me about this toy is that it is sensitive to vibrations. I'm talking small vibrations, too. If it senses a vibration it will roar... loudly. So if I put a toy away, it roars. If my cat walks by, it roars. If I drop something in the kitchen, it roars. It's crazy. What's more crazier...is there isn't any on/off switch to make it stop. If I was to take the batteries out, my son would only put them back in. My son loves transformer robots and has many others. I think the less expensive ones are made much better. I,myself, feel that Devastator is a lemon... however my son thinks he is really cool and is still thrilled that Santa managed to bring him his Devastator on Christmas Morning of 2009.

My son wanted this so badly for Christmas, but I felt it was way overpriced at approx $100. I decided to wait until the price came down, but it never did. I didn't find it on retail clearance shelves as I thought I would. So, I gave in and ordered it for him as a surprise. It cost me even more than the original price w shipping. He was so excited! I have been impressed by it's durability. He has transformed it many many times. The snap joints that join the various pieces are holding up well. One minor complaint would be the sensitivity of the motion sensor activated sound effects... If you're holding it, it's going to be barking at you. It's so annoying in the car that we stopped letting him bring it. On a long road trip we would just have to take the batteries out. Other than that, it's really cool!

this item was difficult to put together.when you finally accomplish that task it does not stand up well. The plastic it's made from is brittle,so I worry my son will crack the pieces IF he attempts to put a piece back on.I would not recommend this item to anyone

The Transformers Movie 2 Devastator toy is very cool, although expensive as well. He is very much like Devastator in the movie and my son really enjoys playing with him. The main drawback is that you cannot turn off the sound, and he will be activated by movement, so be careful where you put him or he may wake you or your child at night!

Got this toy for my kid, b/c he wanted it for xmas. This thing doesn't "do" anything except make noise non-stop. No way to switch it off. Also, cannot support itself standing up as a robot, so it has to lie on the floor. At this price I expected much much more. The individual vehicles do not transform into robots, but only limbs of the devestator. There are also some pieces that have to completely come off of the vehicles to transform them into limbs. Those peices are left off to the side when in robot mode. Doesn't that violate something about what a transformer is? Not a fan of this toy.
